MURRAY LASAINE MONTESSORI
DESCRIPTION
The complete renovation of Murray LaSaine Elementary School has been completed to convert the former facility into a Montessori Learning Center. Brownstone led the effort by providing Program Management services for Charleston County School District’s first ever Design-Build project. With the MLES population relocated from the building during the 2014-2014 school year, the building was completely renovated to accommodate the new instructional curriculum. Interior renovations included modifying the former “pod” type school to house larger Montessori teaching spaces along with typical Administrative, Media, Cafeteria, PE and other support spaces. In addition to modifying various spaces in the building, system upgrades were incorporated into the project to include new HVAC, fire alarm, lighting, electrical, sprinkler, technology, energy management systems, etc.
